How to find the Best Chinese food in Toronto

To find the best Chinese food in Toronto, you must go to the grungiest and dirtiest looking restaurant you can find. I am not kidding. Being Chinese and visiting different parts of Asia I learn that all what we care most in food is the taste. Presentation and ambiance is not our top priority, as we believe in most cases (at least I do) the food will speak for itself. This post is not a list of where to go in Toronto, but instead open your mind for some real Chinese cuisine.

The best Chinese food will also be the weirder things on the menu. If you see chicken balls, don’t order it. It isn’t even a Chinese dish; even my mother would never be caught dead making that stuff. Well, only order if it is really Chicken’s balls, yes we eat that. Just like most countries outside of North America our culture never puts anything to waste, we eat organs and all. The next time you go to a Chinese restaurant, instead of grabbing the English menu ask for the waiter to recommend dishes from the Chinese menu and soon your taste buds will be buzzing for more. One last thing, if you really want a lot of choices for Chinese food, goes to Markham. I personally think the best Chinese restaurants in Markham are way better than the best Chinese restaurants in toronto. They’ve got everything from noodles to dumplings, abalone to chicken feet, they’ve got it all.

Have you ever tried any unusual Chinese dishes? What was it?

Trendy Restaurants Toronto- What is your favorite?

If you ask me, the best restaurants in downtown Toronto  always seems to pop up overnight. Not literally of course, but out of nowhere they are the talk of the town. One of the biggest trends right now are Japanese ramen restaurants, I am not surprised a trendy restaurant like Kinton Ramen gets rave reviews for it delicious meaty broth paired with is chewy al dente Japanese ramen noodles. When I say it’s meaty, I mean melts in your mouth smooth and full of flavor kind of meaty. I hope the ramen trend is here to stay.

Kinton Ramen isn’t the first ramen shop to come to Toronto, but in my opinion it is the best and most authentic ramen shop available locally. It is just as successful as its sister restaurant the famous Guu Izakaya, which is notorious for their extremely welcoming staff that loudly greets every customer as they arrive and as they leave. Kinton Ramen adopted the same greetings and atmosphere that always brings customers back. In case you have already tried it another ramen shop I would recommend would be Sansotei. Now tell me out of all the trendy restaurants in Toronto, what is your favorite?

The Best Japanese Restaurant in Toronto to visit for some delicious food!

Having a special occasion coming up and a hard time planning where to go for it? Don’t want to visit the good old steakhouses or Italian fine dining restaurants that you’re usually taking your friend to for those occasional special events? How about visiting one of the best Japanese restaurants in Toronto? It’s going to be different; it’s going to be exciting; it’s going to be fun; and yes it’s still going to be expensive!

When you have a chance, visit Guu Izakaya – one of the best Japanese restaurants in Toronto, located on Bloor and Bathurst.

It’s very different than your normal, classy, quiet, jazz music in the background type of romantic restaurants to go to for some Steak and Wine. Instead, it offers a large selection of fine Japanese cuisine that are served in small portions. Although it’s pricey for the portion it offers, each dish is delivered with rich and juicy tasting that will make you want more! It’s served in a fair sized restaurant that seats its customers at wooden tables. The chefs cook right beside the customers and the waiters are constantly yelling out exciting, fun gibberish to keep the background, and everyone – live!

The only downside to it is that…just like any other fine restaurants, Guu Izakaya is pretty pricey. It is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Toronto after all. I’d give it an 8.5/10 if I had to rate it.

So, have you ever visited one of these exciting Japanese restaurants? If so, how was it? If not, what’s stopping you?

What is the best South Asian restaurant in Toronto?

When asked that specific question, I usually gravitate towards a Pakistani restaurant. My heritage is partly responsible for that, but largely it is because Lahore Tikka House on Gerrard Street is the only South Asian restaurant in Toronto that makes me feel like I'm back in my home country.

Maybe it feels too much like home, but that’s just a part of the experience. That section of Gerrard Street is mostly populated by South Asian vendors selling all kinds of items such as clothing, groceries, and Paan, which is another South Asian Delicacy. Right outside the entrance to the restaurant you are greeted by a fun attraction, the Rickshaw, a very common form of transportation in Asia, and imported here to remind us of back home.

Let us get to the food now, which is main reason you are reading this blog. Mouthwatering appetizers like samosas, sizzling hot dishes of kebabs, fresh tandoori naans, loads of Biryani, and vegetarian friendly dishes are all there for us to enjoy. To top it all off, one has to order their Lahori Kulfi, an ice cream that will leave you speechless!

Do you know any other South Asian restaurant in Toronto that can compete with the Lahore Tikka House?
